Our FIRST Children’s Writing Workshop

FREE – Saturday July 12th: 10am to 12:30pm

Led by award-winning author, Jana Laiz, our first CHILDREN’S WRITING WORKSHOP, ages 9-12, will be held in our reconstructed Morey-Devereaux Barn dating from (approx.) 1794. We’ll use that lovely old barn as a theme in the stories we will write… Jana can supply writing prompts or kids can let their imaginations run wild! Writings can be about how the barn was built or something magical or special that happened in it—maybe a mystery adventure, or a story about a family from olden times… We’ll see what happens as we write!

Free. Limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is required.

This workshop is made possible with funding from the “Phyllis O’Shea Palladino Education Fund”. This fund was established with memorial donations in honor of Phyllis. She was a teacher and educator in our community. During her tenure as President of the Austerlitz Historical Society, she was an early supporter and creator of programs for children. We are proud to carry on her legacy of helping children.

The Society welcomes any financial gift, but most especially those that help further its goal of engaging children in the history and culture of Austerlitz through educational programs designed especially for them. Checks may be sent to AHS, with the words “Educational Fund” in the memo line.
