The Austerlitz Historical Society offers a series of hands-on workshops and classes at Old Austerlitz each year. Past workshops have included: Blacksmithing, Open-Hearth Cooking, Plein Air Painting, Making Sauerkraut, Introduction to Fly Fishing, Wreath Making, and Early American Woodworking Skills.
For workshops, a nominal fee is charged for supplies and materials. For programming, there is no fee to attend, but donations are appreciated.
2024 WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 10 A.M. TO 3 P.M. PAMELA DALTON SCHERENSCHNITTE, the history and styles of paper cutting; participants will create multiple pieces and receive patterns for use at home. (Limited to 10 participants, beginners welcome)
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 10 A.M. TO NOON ROBIN ZIEGLER Make a TURKEY WING WHISK BROOM. (Limit 10 participants)
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1 P.M. TO 4 P.M. APRIL SALADINO, fiber artist KNOTLESS NETTING,” a craft that predates knitting (Limited to 8 participants)
The registration fee for each workshop is $30 for members of the Austerlitz Historical Society, and $35 for non-members. Workshops will take place at the Morey-Devereaux House on the grounds of the Historical Society on State Route 22 in Austerlitz (half mile south of the junction with State Route 203).
